Dr. Arvind Kumar, chairman of the Chest Surgery Institute of Medanta Hospital, has advised that people must wear masks while going out and get the Covid test done if symptoms of corona appear. According to the news agency ANI, Dr. Arvind Kumar said, “Now since the testing has increased, the (corona) cases have also increased.” The good thing is that the cases that are coming up are not very serious. People are recovering by staying at home.
How effective is the new variant?
The expert said that during the second wave of Kovid there was a shortage of oxygen in the country and the patients who were coming forward needed it, but now the situation is not like this. This viral and new variant is not affecting our lungs much. However, the problem of dry cough is being seen in patients for a long time. The patients who are coming forward do not need oxygen.
He said that patients who are already suffering from some serious illness may be at risk from this variant. Such people need to be more careful. At the same time, people suffering from lung disease need to be very careful with this variant and viral. Dr. Arvind said, “It is necessary for them (people suffering from lung disease) to at least get out of the house, avoid going to crowded places and if very necessary, leave the house only wearing a mask.” ‘
How dangerous is the XBB.1.16 variant?
Dr. Arvind Kumar said, “The XBB.1.16 variant is still mild.” Patients suffering from this are not being seen in a more serious condition. They rarely need to go to the hospital. Most of the patients are recovering by staying at home, but there is no need to be careless about it because it cannot be said when this virus will take a serious form. ”””’ He said that one good thing is that 95 percent of people have hybrid immunity.
Let us tell you that on Friday (March 31), Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal shared the information that XBB1.16 variant has been found in 48 percent of corona cases in the national capital. He also said that this variant is not acute at all and people suffering from it do not need to be hospitalized. These are the highest number of cases reported in 24 hours this year (in 2023).
